Former home minister Mahmood Ali said that KCR has been continuing this tradition since 2001
Hyderabad: Former Telangana chief minister and Bhartiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party leader, K Chandrashekhar Rao, sent a chadar (a religious ceremonial cloth)’ to Ajmer Dargah on Sunday, January 7, for annual Urs celebrations.
The BRS claimed that it has been sending chadar to Ajmer Dargah every year for decades.
Former home minister Mahmood Ali and BRS leader Azam Ali met KCR to take the chadar and conducted special prayers.
Later, Mahmood Ali said that KCR has been continuing this tradition since 2001. He said, “KCR sent chadar to Ajmer Dargah during the Telangana movement. He continued the tradition even after he became the chief minister of Telangana.”
Nestled in the heart of the historic city of Ajmer, Rajasthan, the Ajmer Sharif Dargah stands as a testament to centuries of spiritual devotion and universal harmony. This revered Sufi shrine is dedicated to Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, a 13th-century Sufi saint whose teachings continue to resonate with millions.
A Glimpse into History: The history of Ajmer Sharif Dargah dates back to the 13th century when Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, a Sufi mystic, arrived in Ajmer. His teachings emphasized love, compassion, and unity, transcending religious and social boundaries. The Dargah, his final resting place, became a symbol of spiritual inclusivity.
Architectural Splendor: The Dargah complex is a marvel of Mughal and Indo-Islamic architecture. Intricate carvings, domes, and minarets adorn the site, creating an atmosphere of serenity and reverence. Pilgrims and visitors are greeted by the grand entrance known as the Nizam Gate, leading to the sanctum sanctorum.
The Urs Festival: The annual Urs festival at Ajmer Sharif is a highlight, attracting devotees from different corners of the world. Celebrated in honor of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti’s death anniversary, the Urs is a vibrant spectacle of prayers, qawwalis (devotional music), and acts of charity, reinforcing the saint’s teachings of love and generosity.
Spiritual Significance: The Dargah is a place where people of all faiths come together to seek solace, blessings, and spiritual guidance. The sanctity of the shrine lies in its ability to foster a sense of unity and understanding among diverse communities, embodying the essence of Sufi philosophy.
“The party even purchased one acre of land in Ajmer to set up facilities. However, due to the lack of support from Rajasthan government, the construction has been temporarily halted.”
“Next week Urs will be celebrated in Ajmer, and we will wish for the betterment of Telangana too,” the former home minister said.
